The Financial Conduct Authority has launched an enforcement investigation into The Claims Protection Agency Limited (TCPA) over concerns about misleading advertising and pressure sales tactics in the motor finance claims market, the regulator announced.

The regulator is examining whether customers were misled about potential redress amounts, told they could make claims for free when they couldn't, and whether they faced undue pressure to sign agreements. TCPA operates under several trading names including My Claim Group, Martin's Tips, Karen's Claims, Express PCP, and The PCP Guys.

Following a Voluntary Requirements Application in August 2025, TCPA was required to stop taking on new customers and withdraw all financial promotions. The FCA made the investigation public after the company unsuccessfully challenged the decision through judicial review in October 2025.

The action is part of broader regulatory scrutiny of the motor finance claims sector. Since January 2024, FCA monitoring has led to the removal or amendment of over 740 misleading adverts by regulated claims management companies.

Those who have signed up with TCPA or similar firms should review their contracts carefully, particularly around cancellation rights and fees. Complaints can be escalated to the Claims Management Ombudsman or Legal Ombudsman. The FCA is expected to publish final rules for a motor finance consumer redress scheme in early 2026, which may offer a route to compensation without using claims management companies.
