FCA Bans Car Finance Claims Firm Over Fake Adverts
Claims management company fined for using unauthorised Martin Lewis clips and promising fake £1,846 payouts. Learn how to claim car finance compensation safely.
Car finance compensation claims firm Conclusive Financial Ltd has been banned from advertising after using fake Martin Lewis endorsements and misleading British drivers about potential payouts.
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) took action against the company, which also trades as PCP Refunds, for running misleading adverts that used edited, unauthorised clips of money-saving expert Martin Lewis.
The banned adverts falsely claimed drivers would receive £1,846 on average for motor finance compensation, with no explanation of how this figure was calculated. The company also illegally used the FCA logo without permission, giving the false impression of official endorsement.
What Conclusive Did Wrong
The claims management company promoted a "No Win, No Fee" service without properly explaining the actual costs involved, including exit fees that customers would face. Crucially, it failed to tell consumers they could make claims for free directly to their lender or to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
"Consumers should be wary of adverts that overpromise or give the impression they are endorsed by the FCA or well-known individuals," warned Alison Walters, director of consumer finance at the FCA. "We will take swift action where rules are being broken."

Free Claims Process Available
The FCA emphasises that drivers don't need to pay claims management companies or law firms to pursue motor finance compensation. The official scheme is completely free to use.
This enforcement action is part of a wider crackdown. A joint taskforce involving the FCA, Solicitors Regulation Authority, Advertising Standards Authority, and Information Commissioner's Office has been formed to tackle misleading motor finance adverts. Since January 2024, 899 misleading adverts have been removed or amended following FCA action.
What to Do If You've Been Affected
If you've engaged with Conclusive Financial Ltd or PCP Refunds and believe you were misled:
• Complain directly to Conclusive first • If unsatisfied, escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service • If you signed up with a law firm after seeing these adverts, complain to the law firm and then the Legal Ombudsman if needed
Making Legitimate Claims
Millions of car finance customers are expected to receive payouts this year as the FCA's compensation scheme progresses. Remember: legitimate claims cost nothing to make. You can pursue compensation directly through your lender or the Financial Ombudsman Service without paying middlemen.
The motor finance mis-selling scandal centres on undisclosed commission arrangements where dealers received payments from finance companies, potentially inflating the cost of credit for consumers. If you took out car finance between 2007 and 2021, you may be entitled to compensation.
Always be suspicious of cold calls, text messages, or online adverts promising specific compensation amounts or using celebrity endorsements. Check the FCA register before engaging with any claims management company, and remember that the free route is always available.
